Automotive Upholsterer – Classic & Exotic Restoration

We’re hiring an Upholsterer to join a nationally respected restoration shop specializing in high-end classic and exotic vehicles.

This is not dealership seat repair. This is full restoration work — interiors that take up to 300 hours per vehicle, built to exacting standards.

If you can run a sewing machine and sew a straight, clean line — we can teach you the rest.

What You’ll Do

• Sew leather interiors for classic and exotic vehicles
• Perform full interior restorations (seats, dash, panels, carpets, trim)
• Handle projects ranging from small repairs to complete interior rebuilds
• Work on multiple vehicles at different stages of restoration
• Remove and reinstall interior components when needed
• Execute diamond pleats, borders, straight seams, and detailed stitching
• Maintain clean, visually straight lines and high craftsmanship standards

Average full interior project: ~300 labor hours

Typical interior timeline: 2–3 months per vehicle

• You know how to run an industrial sewing machine
• You can sew straight, consistent seams
• You’ve worked with leather or heavy materials
• You take pride in clean lines and visual precision
• You want to be in the automotive field

We can train someone who knows how to sew.

We cannot train someone who doesn’t care about quality.

Backgrounds That Translate Well

• Automotive upholstery
• Aircraft interior (trim) experience
• Marine upholstery
• Trim fabricators
• Hands-on fabricators with sewing experience

(Detail-only experience is typically not a fit unless paired with machine sewing ability.)

Compensation & Growth

• Starting range: $45K–$60K, depending on experience
• Growth potential to $65K–$70K+ with demonstrated skill
• 3–6 month ramp-up expected
• Long-term stability and low turnover environment

Top performers in this trade can earn significantly more as skill level increases.
