Upper School Computer Science Teacher & IT Help Desk
Wichita Collegiate School (WCS), a thriving Independent School located in Wichita, KS, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Computer Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 9-12.This role will teach a year-long AP Computer Science course and a semester-long introduction to Computer Science course, with the potential to grow the program.
The ideal candidate will develop and deliver an engaging curriculum that fosters a deep understanding of computer science principles, programming languages, and computational thinking. This role involves creating a supportive and challenging learning environment where students can develop problem-solving skills, collaborate effectively, and explore the exciting possibilities within the field of computer science. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and contributing to the overall growth and development of our students and the school community.
Beyond the classroom, the teacher will lead and mentor the student-led help desk, empowering students to develop technical support skills and fostering peer-to-peer learning. Additionally, this position serves as the primary IT help desk contact for Upper School (US) teachers, requiring the ability to troubleshoot technical issues, provide timely support, and collaborate with the broader IT department as needed.
The primary responsibilities: As a Collegiate Educator, the primary responsibilities of a classroom teacher include, but are not limited to, the following:
**Minimum Qualifications: **A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and or a related field, and classroom experience. Advanced education or relevant professional experience may be substituted for the classroom experience.

Working Conditions: Wichita Collegiate Educators are expected to be on campus from August 1 through May 31. During the school year, school hours of operation are 7:30 from 4:30 pm; the classroom schedule varies by division. Faculty members are expected to participate in school activities to foster our sense of community. This position will be required to support the IT team up to 25 days in June and July.
