    About the Billing Clerk Role

    Upperline Health is seeking a Billing Clerk to support our revenue cycle function. This person will process all RCM mail and provide centralized assistance for timely refund processing across the company. In this role you will also assist with assorted junior level tasks as needed. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working in an office setting. As Upperline expands, this individual will be able to explore a wide range of career opportunities within the company.

    This position is based in our Nashville corporate office with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote work

    What You’ll Do

    • Manage record requests

    • Open and sort revenue cycle related mail

    • Write up and reconcile deposits

    • Facilitate bank deposits

    • Process and reconcile medical record / VCC payments and upload into EMR system

    • Pull remits from Provider portals as needed

    • Scan and distribute correspondence to appropriate department

    • Review correspondence to determine if insurance refund is valid for processing

    • Move unapplied money in EMR system to outstanding balances

    • Validate patient credit balances to process refunds

    • Assist with assorted junior level tasks

    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding payment arrangements, account documentation, proper disclosures, and update of patient information

    • May be requested to support and perform other duties based on business needs

    Qualifications of the Billing Clerk

    • Experience working in an office setting

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office platform

    • Previous experience working with an EMR (Athenahealth EMR) is highly preferred

    • Must be an effective communicator with success in providing notes, updates, and written communications via computer systems

    • Enjoys working in a team-based environment with active collaboration

    • Thrives in a fast-paced environment that relies on the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities

    COMPENSATION

    Compensation is commensurate to compensation for similar positions in the region and based on prior training and experience
