Rogers Behavioral Health in Oconomowoc is excited to have an opening for a full-time gardener! Work year-round and enjoy your weekends off- this is a M-F role.

The Gardener is responsible for providing horticulture/gardening services to our beautiful Oconomowoc facilities. The ideal candidate is self-driven and motivated to maintain our beautiful gardens for our patients.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain planters and multiple beautiful gardens
• Select, purchase, and plant green and flowering plants, as needed
• Remove weeds and apply herbicides (as needed if organic management is insufficient.)
• Clear miscellaneous litter and debris from the garden areas.
• Mow small areas with walk-behind mower as specified
• Blow leaves, grass clippings, and other plant debris off walkways.
• Use and monitor greenhouse control systems and decorative fountains
• Use and monitor irrigation and sprinkler systems. Work with irrigation contractor with system repair and maintenance.
• Assist with snow removal- shoveling sidewalks with a shovel and snowblower
• Assist with other maintenance projects, such as painting over the winter season and/or during rainy days
• Assist Experiential Therapy Team with design, implementation, and maintenance of horticultural programs for residents
• Provide educational information regarding horticulture and plant identification to Experiential Therapists and residents

Requirements

• Five (5) or more years horticultural experience with in-depth knowledge of plant culture, maintenance and identification.
• Degree/Certification in horticulture or related field.
• Ability to work alone or in groups, in all weather conditions.
• Ability to perform self-directed work, prioritize projects, and manage time wisely.
• Flexibility to work long hours, holidays and weekends, as necessary.
• Computer proficiency.
• Applicant may be required to pass a written and practical exam.
• Valid Wisconsin driver license required.

Oconomowoc and Delafield gardens

Hours:

M-F 7:00 – 3:30pm, flexible
