    Uptown Cheapskate Austin is the highest volume store in the country and operated by Uptown's #1 franchisee. We are looking for experience retail managers and seasoned resale professionals & buyers who ideally have worked specifically in the secondhand resale clothing industry. By that, we do not mean just regular retail. Previous experience with another secondhand resale store is strongly preferred. We seek motivated individuals with a long-term interest in sustainable fashion. For assistant managers, experience and an interest in future opportunities in management, district-management and corporate-level positions down the road is the goal.

    AS SECONDHAND RESALE IS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL, PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS STRONGLY PREFERRED for candidates. By that, we mean being an employee of a secondhand resale store such as those listed below. Having sold or shopped in one does not qualify.

    Examples of resale stores that would provide appropriate past work history:

    Uptown Cheapskate Buffalo Exchange Plato's Closet Crossroads Trading Style Encore Clothes Mentor Second Street Hut 8 Kid-to-Kid Once Upon a Child Local stores with similar business models.

    Manager position will require min of 35-40 hours sales floor team management with additional hours off the sales floor dedicated to administrative and HR duties. Candidates will be required to start learning the sales associate position and other jobs in order to be able to supervise the team as they advance.

    Responsibilities

    Oversee day-to-day operations, assign weekly performance goals and ensure their completion, and accomplish your own goals

    Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing employees to achieve objectives for sales, profitability, and market share

    Maintain project & task daily, weekly & monthly timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively

    Maintain budgeted labor goals

    Delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values

    Resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of all involved

    Required skills and qualifications

    Proven success in a retail managerial role

    Strong decision-making ability

    Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills

    Proven ability to develop and achieve sales goals

    Ability to motivate and lead employees, and hold them accountable

    Strong working knowledge of operational procedures

    Strong knowledge of current fashion trends and brands for our target demographic of men & women 18yrs-35 yrs old.

    Preferred skills and qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business management or related field

    Experience in conducting performance evaluations

    Working knowledge of human-resources processes

    Microsoft Office
