Position: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Job Description:

The CTO is accountable for systems availability, functionality, security, monitoring and performance optimization, leading the Urban FT Development and Quality Assurance teams for developed software, deployment and oversight of a 7x24 Network Operations Center (NOC), and oversight for client Integration to the Urban FT Platforms. The CTO is responsible for leading the strategy for application delivery, technology platforms, partnerships and external relationships as well as building and managing the technology team in a technology-driven payment processing company where security and reliability are paramount.

Specifically, the CTO will be responsible for architecting and scaling platforms ranging from payment and transaction processing, machine learning based solutions, client facing APIs, white-label banking platform apps (inclusive of web, native mobile, wearable, and chatbot solutions), business tools, and other solutions that meet the Company’s expanding business needs.

Requirements include a BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or other sciences with extensive IT management experience (advanced degree a plus) and 3+ years of experience in an engineering operations role within a production ops team. Knowledge of operating system and network concepts including NFS, HTTP, TCP is desired, as is previous experience managing a NOC. Occasional travel (US and abroad) will be required with the position.

Responsibilities include:

• Establish technical standards and ensure adherence
• Own the Architecture and Development process for delivery of Urban FT Platforms and all future updates and iterations
• Supervise software testing, and information systems operations and maintenance
• Lead organization in anticipating and reacting to major technology changes
• Develop technology contingency plans to keep projects on track
• Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all web-based services.
• Supervise web application, native mobile application, and software development quality assurance
• Oversee Partner and Client integration efforts to the Urban FT Platforms
• Collaborate with the executive team to assess and recommend technologies in support of company needs
• Create automation/script processes to further streamline team workflows 
• Maintain and conduct daily work using a ticket queue
• Deploy, manage and provide oversight to the Urban FT NOC
• Provide for after-hours support to servers, network, and other systems (on-call)
• Work closely with software and hardware vendors
• Create documentation to support systems implementations
• Expand and maintain our automation infrastructure
• Design, implement, and manage complex systems and configurations in a multi-site environment
• Provide assistance in troubleshooting production issues
• Create and maintain high-quality documentation of all relevant specifications, systems, and procedures
• Provide assistance in maintaining Corporate IT infrastructure

About you:

• Proven ability to manage issues in complex production environments for a FinTech company – preferably a payment processor
• Ability to oversee a development team in a high-demand environment
• 8+ years’ experience with Java
• Experience implementing Machine Learning based solutions
• Strong understanding of SQL and No-SQL databases
• Experience with native mobile application development including iOS and Android
• Strong understanding of RESTful web services
• Ability to plan, document, and execute tasks effectively given minimum supervision
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure administration a strong plus – specifically VMware vCloud
• Load balancers and GSLB implementations. Maintain production firewalls and switches
• Experience with Web App firewalls (Imperva, NetScaler, Radware/Appwall, etc.), SAN technologies, Logging technologies (Splunk, SIEM, RSA, Arcsight, LogRhythm
• Understanding of Encryption techniques (3DES, AES, RSA, etc),
• Ability to oversee the Quality Assurance testing function
• Build out strong regression and functional testing capabilities for all Urban FT code
• Experience with data science and machine learning
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Experience working in a PCI compliant environment
