JOB TITLE Part-Time Youth Coding Instructor/Information Technology Support Specialist " College Interns Welcome " DEPARTMENT Youth Education LOCATION 253 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Jersey City, NJ 07305 REPORTS TO Elaine Dawson & Wyatt Bradley, Supervisors GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The job description of a Part-Time Youth Coding Instructor/Information Technology Support Specialist is centered mainly on the following key points: * Teach coding classes, create apps, reverse-engineered games and concepts. * Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, chat or email. * Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues. * Research questions using available information resources. * Advise users on appropriate action. * Follow standard help desk procedures. * Log all help desk interactions. * Administer help desk software. * Follow up with customers and users to ensure complete resolution of issues. * Basic procedural programming * JavaScript, PHP, HTML/CSS, Python, Scratch/Snap C++ DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Part-Time Youth Coding Instructor/Information Technology Support Specialist will teach the next generation how to change the world all while thinking like a coder! Provide direct technical assistance and support to staff for network, hardware and software issues. Duties include installing and maintaining computer systems including software and hardware on desktops and laptops, resolving internet and network access issues (both wired and wireless), providing network printer support. EDUCATION/TRAINING Minimum of 1 year prior experience, or similar environment (essential); Coding, teaching, computer science, computer engineering etc. Proficient in Microsoft Word Suite, Help Desk, teaching, written and verbal communication. SKILLS & ABILITIES Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; superb dispute and conflict resolution skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret common trouble shooting tactics; ability to work in a culturally diverse environment, community, and staff; ability to understand, formulate and implement a viable plan of action on a case-by-case basis; reliable, dependable self-motivated; ability to provide excellent customer service; professional business attire WORKING CONDITIONS WORK ENVIRONMENT Professional mid-sized, multi-cultural, multi-lingual client and staff-based customer service environment.
