  • Responsibilities

    The EcoDistrict is a community-driven effort that promotes socially equitable, environmentally resilient, and culturally vibrant neighborhoods. Supported by the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, EcoDistrict focuses on making the most densely populated urban village in the Pacific Northwest livable and sustainable for all people by piloting new and innovative ideas at the neighborhood level that can then be scaled to city or regional levels.

    The EcoDistrict Intern will be tasked with supporting Capitol Hill EcoDistrict staff on a range of projects, which may include but are not limited to:

    Support pop-up events for small businesses

    Street Activation Design and Pilot Projects

    Support service-oriented programs at a local elementary school

    Biodiversity corridor planning

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

    Comfort engaging with racially and economically diverse community members

    Self-motivation and ability to work independently

    Some experience with qualitative data collection and analysis

    Some experience with survey design

    A basic understanding of land use, urban development, public health, and transportation policy and/or the ability to quickly learn about policy issues in new areas

    The flexibility to attend virtual evening meetings

    Basic understanding of Microsoft office

    Bachelor’s degree in architecture, community development, economic development, urban planning, green building, or other related field.

    ULMS Total Compensation

    Employee Assistance Program - $37.80 per year

    Professional Development Funds – up to $1500 per year for approved professional development activities

    WA State Paid Family & Medical Leave – 0.8% of salary - 100% employer paid

    Workers Compensation Coverage - $395.20 - $3,591.33 per year (depending on class code)

    Taxes – 9.8% of salary
