    Position Title: College and Career Prep Advisor (part-time)

    Department: UrbanPromise Academy

    Reports To: UPA Principal

    Salary Range: $20.99 + an hour 16-20 hours per week + Total Rewards Package + 401 (K) with Employer Match

    Position Summary:

    The College and Career Prep Advisor will work collaboratively with the UrbanPromise Academy and StreetLeader (SL) staff in organizing, directing and managing enrichment activities and college preparation programming which equip and motivate the students to excel in school, explore their unique capabilities and continue their education past high school.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Uphold UrbanPromise values and demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
    2. Lead post-high school planning and preparation work with the UPA and SL juniors and seniors with the goal that every graduating senior has a plan for college, career or continuing education when they graduate.
    3. Lead a weekly College and Career Planning class at the UPA for seniors in the fall and juniors in the spring.
    4. In conjuncture with the SL team, organize local college tours for UPA students and SLs.
    5. In conjuncture with the UPA English teacher and SL team, support students in crafting their college statements/essays.
    6. In conjuncture with the UPA and SL teams, students and parents, help students identify which colleges to apply to and/or other post high school career or training options.
    7. Organize FASFA completion sessions for seniors.
    8. Support and hold students accountable for completing college applications.
    9. Serve as a liaison with local colleges.
    10. Support the work of the Ambassadors of Hope committee including collecting student applications, supporting communication between the committee and students, and arranging for scholarship payments.
    11. Coordinate with other staff members, participate in faculty meetings and committees, and contribute to the UP community as part-time schedule allows.
    12. Participate in the employee performance appraisal process. Participate in and seek out professional training and development opportunities.
    13. Attending required staff events including all-staff meetings and some fundraiser events as part-time schedule allows.

    Essential Job Requirements:

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education, Youth Ministry, Social work or another related field.

    EXPERIENCE: Experience working with urban youth and high school students

    REQUIRED SKILLS: Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to multi-task; Experience helping students with college application process

    PREFERRED SKILLS: Comfort using the Google suite or products.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position includes the normal physical demands associated with work in the office and classroom environment. This position includes the ability to schedule work outside of the typical work week days and evenings.
