    The Ordway: The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts is one of the leading performing arts centers in the United States and a catalyst for vibrant arts in Minnesota. Powered by hundreds of talented and dedicated staff members and volunteers, the Ordway is renowned for its multidisciplinary programming, welcoming atmosphere, and comfortable environment. The Ordway welcomes audiences of all ages and backgrounds for year- round eclectic and entertaining offerings, including Broadway musicals, concerts, dance, vocal artists, and new works. Performances take place in the 1,900-seat Music Theater and a 1,100-seat Concert Hall. The Ordway serves tens of thousands of students and families each year through its arts education and community impact programs, and is a proud member of the Arts Partnership, a collaboration comprising the Ordway, Minnesota Opera, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Schubert Club.

    Position Purpose: The Usher is responsible for greeting, admitting, and directing guests and is the primary face of the Ordway while providing for the enjoyment, safety, comfort, and quality Ordway experience of audience members.

    • Reports to: Director of Guest Services

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Communicate concise directions and information to guests at events and performances to ensure a high level of customer service, safety and care.
    • Report any situations or guests to the Event Supervisor or Floor Supervisor on duty that need immediate assistance
    • Be informed about the Ordway and Arts Partnership events, and be a reference for future events.
    • Implement proper safety and security procedures and policies in a calm and productive manner to ensure the Ordway experience.

    Other Qualifications:

    • The ability to bend, lift, stay mobile for extended two+ hours, and move quickly up and down stairs in low light situations are all required. Reasonable accommodations can be offered, as requested.
    • The ability to work evenings and weekends is required.
    • Must be age 16+.
