About the Role
City of Virginia Beach Public Utilities is seeking a reliable and professional Customer Service Representative to support daily office operations. This role requires managing a high volume of phone calls and providing exceptional service to residents, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and professionally to incoming phone calls and emails.
- Provide accurate information regarding the Backflow Prevention Program, including testing requirements, compliance status, and notifications.
- Document all customer interactions in program databases and tracking applications.
- Enter and update customer, contact, and location records with precision.
- Assist with preparing and mailing annual backflow test notifications and other correspondence.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards of professionalism in all interactions.
- Support the Backflow Program team with general administrative tasks.
- Use appropriate de-escalation techniques to assist irate or frustrated customers in accordance with department policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent phone etiquette and a courteous, professional demeanor.
