Job Summary
The Utility Worker at Kennesaw State University supports daily operations within campus dining and/or facilities by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food service preparation, and ensuring a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role is essential to the smooth operation of university services and requires reliability, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday
11AM-7PM or 12PM-8PM
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining areas, kitchens, restrooms, and workspaces
Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment following health and safety standards
Assist with food preparation, stocking supplies, and setting up service areas as needed
Remove trash and recycling; ensure proper disposal procedures are followed
Clean and sanitize floors, tables, equipment, and high-touch surfaces
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries according to safety guidelines
Follow all university, health department, and safety regulations
Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and efficiently
Support special events and campus functions as assigned
Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet operational needs
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous experience in food service, custodial, or utility work preferred but not required
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Strong attention to cleanliness and safety standards
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds
Ability to bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks
