Job Summary

The Utility Worker at Kennesaw State University supports daily operations within campus dining and/or facilities by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food service preparation, and ensuring a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role is essential to the smooth operation of university services and requires reliability, attention to detail, and teamwork.

Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday

11AM-7PM or 12PM-8PM

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining areas, kitchens, restrooms, and workspaces

• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment following health and safety standards

• Assist with food preparation, stocking supplies, and setting up service areas as needed

• Remove trash and recycling; ensure proper disposal procedures are followed

• Clean and sanitize floors, tables, equipment, and high-touch surfaces

• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries according to safety guidelines

• Follow all university, health department, and safety regulations

• Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and efficiently

• Support special events and campus functions as assigned

• Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet operational needs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Previous experience in food service, custodial, or utility work preferred but not required

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Strong attention to cleanliness and safety standards

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods

• Ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds

• Ability to bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks
