Vaughn & Melton Consulting Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer with 4-6 years of experience in our New Bern, North Carolina office. The work will consist of project development, the preparation of design plans and construction documents, and project management of transportation projects for a variety of clients. This person will mentor and oversee entry level personnel, coordinate with engineering staff, develop plans, reports and presentations, and assist with market development and client relations.
The position requires the following qualifications/ requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer with minimum four years of experience in Transportation Engineering
- Experience in managing transportation projects with little or no supervision
- Ability to manage and coordinate assignments with multi-disciplinary teams
- Thorough understanding of SCDOT’s guidelines/procedures for SC Offices
- Thorough understanding of NCDOT’s guidelines/procedures for NC Office
- Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCad
- Knowledge of Geopak and/or Civil 3D Design Software
- Experience with maintaining and developing client and team relationships
- Experience with proposal and/or fee development
- Experience with SCDOT, Municipalities, Railroads, SCDHEC and other approving agencies for SC Offices
- Experience with NCDOT, Municipalities, Railroads, NCDEQ and other approving agencies for NC Office
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
