_POSITION SUMMARY _
VAUGHN & MELTON CONSULTING ENGINEERS, INC. – LEXINGTON, KY & CHARLOTTE, NC is currently seeking an ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING (EIT). Under close or moderate supervision, this position performs engineering duties in planning, designing, and directing civil engineering projects such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, channels, pipelines, site development, drainage, and water and sewage system.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Civil Engineering CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES: Successfully pass E.I.T. examination: Required
EXPERIENCE: 1 - 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, other design software
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

WORK CONDITIONS
Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
