    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Managing Consultant collaborates with a team of McREL consultants and managing consultants under the direction of a Director to provide consulting, professional learning, and technical assistance services to McREL’s clients, with an emphasis on contextualizing McREL’s evidence-based products and services. The Managing Consultant designs and delivers high-quality professional learning and capacity-building services for clients through face-to-face interactions and remote, technology-enhanced means. This includes effectively listening to and understanding client needs to help scope proposals that offer appropriate solutions. The person in this position understands the challenges and emerging trends in education and leverages them in customized consulting and technical assistance services provided to clients. The Managing Consultant may also contribute to developing McREL products and publications.

     

    _TRAVEL/LOCATION: _Must be willing and able to perform all national and international travel (including overnight and commercial airline travel) that is necessary to accomplish the essential functions of this position. Travel for this position is estimated at up to 80%. We have offices in Denver, Colorado or Honolulu, Hawaii location; We may be open to remote employees who live within 60 minutes of a major airport.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Managing Consultant:

    • Uses research-based content and resources in consulting, professional learning, and technical assistance work, adding contextualized examples to McREL’s products, as appropriate.
    • Articulates and provides actionable suggestions and recommendations in one or more content areas.
    • Demonstrates and deepens one’s own expertise in one or more content areas, as well as best practices in the education field.
    • In partnership with Sales and Marketing, maintains and develops current and potential client relationships and opportunities for new work.
    • Develops and delivers professional learning and technical assistance according to contract specifications.
    • Delivers contracted services on time, on budget, and to customer satisfaction.
    • Contributes to scoping projects, report writing, materials development, and project communication, per project expectations.
    • Leads and monitors projects that include multiple staff members.
    • Contributes to the expansion of McREL’s products, services, and publications.
    • Responds to internal and external requests in a timely matter, including, at times, during non-traditional business hours.
    • Prioritizes multiple responsibilities and takes initiative in work.
    • Collaborates as an effective team member to ensure the successful completion of assigned tasks.
    • Makes decisions and performs in a manner which is congruent with organizational goals, strategy, vision, mission, and values.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    DESIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

    • Recent classroom experience with demonstrated success supporting student learning.
    • Strong communication, writing, facilitation, and presentation skills, with experience presenting to groups of various sizes.
    • Knowledge of educational research and best practices in one or more areas (e.g., multilingual learners, literacy).
    • Knowledge and experience designing and delivering professional learning using best practices for adult learners.
    • Proficient in using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and comfortable using or learning to use a variety of technology tools and platforms for virtual delivery.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Consulting skills including relationship building, facilitation, needs sensing, root cause analysis, problem solving, and coaching.

     

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • BA/BS degree plus eight years of experience OR
    • Masters or Ph.D. plus five years of experience.

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Five years of experience as a classroom teacher.
    • Five years of involvement in school improvement efforts as a teacher leader, instructional coach, or school improvement team member.
    • At least five years of relevant work experience in K-12 education as a teacher, administrator, or central office staff or experience as a McREL Specialist.

     

    BENEFITS:

     

    The annual full-time salary range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000.

  • Qualifications
    • High / Technical School graduate or equivalent
    • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and perform repairs
    • Ability to comprehend electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC and plumbing drawings or diagrams
    • Knowledge of: electricity, electrical codes, NFPA 70E, OSHA Regulations
    • Basic measuring skills to read English and Metric systems and use of tape measures, calipers and micrometers
    • Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success –oriented, deadline driver organization
    • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy to both internal and external customers
    • Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office products and basic knowledge of NC and CNC programming
    • Must have strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills to execute and manage effectively
    • Must be highly motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to lead and manager others
