VDC Engineer (Electrical) – Level 3

Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) | Revit + AutoCAD | Construction Shop Drawings

Industrial Power Solutions is hiring a VDC Engineer – Level 3 to produce constructible electrical shop drawings that our field teams can install from, and that can move cleanly through A/E review and approval. This is construction-focused electrical VDC (not design engineering, not architectural BIM, not clash-only coordination).

    Position snapshot

    1. Department: Virtual Design & Construction (VDC)

    2. Reports to: VDC Lead / Project Manager

    3. Experience level: 5–7 years (or equivalent)

    4. Leveling note: Level 3 is the maximum entry level for external hires

    What you’ll do

You’ll own assigned drawing packages with minimal supervision and support PMs and field leadership through the full workflow from development to approval.

    Core production (shop drawings):

    1. Produce electrical shop drawings for underground conduit layouts, aboveground conduit routing, ductbank plans/sections, equipment layouts, and required sections/elevations/details

    2. Translate sealed construction documents into clear, accurate, constructible drawings for field installation

    Revit + AutoCAD execution:

    1. Model conduit systems and equipment in Revit to validate routing, support coordination, and extract information for production

    2. Use AutoCAD for details and hybrid/legacy workflows as needed

    3. Use the model as a tool—deliver clean 2D drawings and schedules

    Schedules + documentation:

    1. Develop and maintain equipment and conduit schedules and keep alignment with one-lines and P&IDs

    Submittals, approval, and revisions:

    1. Build submittal packages and support A/E review cycles, including tracking comments and incorporating approved-as-noted revisions

    2. Maintain Approved-for-Construction (AFC) records

    RFI + field support:

    1. Identify conflicts/unclear info, compile clarification items with exhibits, and incorporate approved responses

    2. Answer field questions, clarify install intent, and capture approved field changes for updated documentation

    Quality control:

    1. Self-check work before submission and maintain consistency with contract documents and company standards

    Required skills

    1. 5–7 years in VDC, drafting, or construction documentation

    2. Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and PDF markup tools

    3. Strong understanding of conduit routing and equipment layout

    4. Able to work independently, manage assigned scopes, and communicate clearly

    Preferred qualifications

    1. Industrial electrical or infrastructure project experience

    2. Underground conduit and ductbank coordination experience

    3. Familiarity with submittal and approval workflows and field sequencing

    What success looks like

    1. Produces reliable, low-revision shop drawing packages

    2. Flags coordination issues early and supports PMs and field teams effectively

    3. Maintains high documentation quality with minimal oversight
