Job Description

VIDA is looking for a freelance seamstress to support our product development team. VIDA develops all items in house in close cooperation with suppliers. We are looking for a seamstress to work closely with our design team to produce counter samples of new apparel items. This position requires skills in both woven and knits, attention to detail and the ability to connect the 2D world of design sketches and mood boards to the world of fabrics and actual garments that can be printed and made on-demand.  

Responsibilities Include:

• Develop, copy, or adapt designs for garments, and design patterns to fit measurement applying knowledge of garment design, construction, styling, and fabric.
• Record required alterations and instructions in notes and tags and modify samples accordingly after product design meetings.
• Use all necessary equipment and machinery required in garment reconstruction.
• Cut/assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
• Maintain positive open lines of communication with all VIDA management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
• Ability to cope with tight deadlines and cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks.
• Will be working directly with our designers in the construction of printed, made on-demand garments.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant experience related to Sewing/Seamstress 
• Prior work history with fabric/fashion industry
• Ability to follow established patterns and specifications.
• Willingness to learn and be flexible.
• Strong work ethic.
• Proven attention to detail.
• Self-starter with a willingness to do whatever is necessary to support the team.
• Demonstrated good judgement and a high degree of integrity
• Located in Bay Area, CA or at driving distance to join meetings with VIDA's design team
