The VITA Program Specialist is a part time position (with the possibility of growth into full time) that supports United Way of Northwest Florida’s mission to promote financial stability by assisting with the coordination and implementation of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program across UWNWFL’s six-county region.
This position provides program-wide administrative, volunteer, and operational support to ensure all VITA sites operate effectively and in compliance with IRS and UWNWFL standards. The Specialist assists with volunteer recruitment and training, maintains records and reporting systems, supports community outreach and financial education, and serves as a resource for both volunteers and clients during tax season.
The VITA Program Specialist plays a key role in helping low- to moderate-income individuals and families access free, accurate, and timely tax preparation services and financial education, promoting financial stability across the Northwest Florida region.
This position may require evening and weekend hours during tax season and travel across UWNWFL’s service area (Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties).

**Requirements:
** Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. ****
Minimum 2 years of experience in program support, customer service, volunteer coordination, or related work.
Experience with tax preparation or IRS VITA programs preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Familiarity with IRS-approved tax preparation software (e.g., TaxSlayer).
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends, especially during tax season.
