    Job Description

     The estimator will be responsible for maintaining a proper balance between the profitability of the company and the achievement of total customer satisfaction. The Estimator works with Outside Sales Representatives to prepare cost estimates for all of the company business. The Estimator must understand the customer requirements and the cost of meeting those requirements within the group’s capabilities. The individual will convey to the customer a sense of expertise and serve as a key educator to our customers. The estimator will be accountable for meeting the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and sales goals.

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    GENERAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE

    • Communicate effectively with the Estimating Manager and the Sales Team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee objectives are met
    • Follow systems and procedures outlined in company policies
    • Participate as a key team player by supporting operations as needed

    CUSTOMER SERVICE

    • Prepare estimates for all jobs based on plans and specifications as received from Sales Representatives, Customer Service Representatives, and the Estimating Manager
    • Price all production work using proven standards. Estimate nonstandard work in conjunction with the Estimating Manager’s direction
    • Process requests in a courteous, efficient and timely manner
    • Organize workflow to meet deadlines
    • Effectively present and discuss the products and services of the company
    • Manage telephone calls professionally, efficiently and with good communication skills
    • Attend to customer concerns immediately and facilitate satisfactory resolution

    SALES AND MARKETING

    • Support customer sales through service, education, and effective problem-solving.  Involve appropriate team members as needed
    • Support strategic sales plan and marketing strategies outlined by the sales team
    • Assist in the production of cost-effective customer-oriented solutions

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • College degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or equivalent experience
    •  5 years’ experience working with a contractor or equipment dealer
    • Strong team player with excellent people and communications skills_ _
    • Familiarity with mechanical systems, equipment and manufacturing processes must have experience with HVAC systems – understanding of HVAC equipment, pipe and duct systems
    • Ability to read architectural drawings and blueprints
    • Experience in sales or customer service
    • Excellent command of the English language in both written and oral forms
    • Excellent math skills, ability to apply concepts of basic geometry
    • Understand customers’ needs and requirements and relate to products and services offered
    • Strong attention to detail, possessing a sales aptitude and interested in preventing errors and solving problems
    • Must be computer literate and current of new technology
    • Must be hardworking, a self-starter and a problem solver
    • Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management skills.  Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently
    • Exceptional phone and customer service skills, positive and upbeat attitude
    • Strong team player with excellent people and communication skills
    • Must be able to travel

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Able to sit at and work on a computer for extended periods
    • Able to lift 10 pounds and reach/bend to retrieve documents in cabinets and on shelves

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Typical office environment
    • Willing and able to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met
    • Face-paced environment; subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity
