    Job Description

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clinical Educator (CE) is responsible for utilizing professional skills and clinical experience to educate patients and healthcare professionals on Osteoporosis and a prescribed therapy regimen.  

    The Clinical Educator will be provided pre-approved health care provider (office) contact list to proactively call on, both independently as well as collaboratively with the Clinical Account Specialist(s) in their assigned territory.  The educator will conduct the “total office call” securing the opportunity to educate health care providers on an Osteoporosis therapy regimen, the Clinical Educator role, and the ongoing support provided to the office and their patients.  

    The Clinical Educator will support patients, by conducting disease state and proper injection technique education in the home as well as ongoing telephonic support through a series of follow up phone calls.  The CE will feedback loop to the health care provider offices, as well as field pharmaceutical partners (using appropriate guardrails). 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Responsible for conducting engaging training on pre-approved curriculum including live, virtual (Zoom platform), and telephonic to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to patients, caregivers and health care provider office staff

    • Conduct outreach that generates in-services to educate physicians, nurses and office staff on CE role and registration process of available programs.  Education topics could include: burden of disease and symptoms, administration/dosing/side effects, proper use, handling, and administration of medication to instill confidence to train their patients and follow through the  patient journey progression

    • Plan routing and schedule activities that secure in-services at approved target offices; document all activities compliantly 

    • Identify opportunities to collaborate with sales personnel to create and revise plans to meet territory education needs  

    • Assist patients/caregivers with implementing treatment protocols of the prescribing physician.  Provide training on initiation and proper use of medication including self-injection techniques and ongoing use of the device.  Bridge relationships and foster open dialogue with healthcare providers, office staff, and the patient

    • Advise on industry insights and innovative approaches to training curriculum 

    • Schedule activities, conduct trainings and submit completed documentation to VMS in a timely manner  

    • Ensure all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with all VMS, client, and industry mandated rules and regulations 

    • Perform other duties as assigned

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Licensed healthcare professional
    • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred

    REQUIRED LICENSE AND/OR CREDENTIALS

    • RD, RN, NP, RPh, PharmD, etc.

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Patient and HCP education experience, including injection education (preferably on behalf of a pharmaceutical company or device manufacturer) 

    • Strong confidence and familiarity with technology, including Zoom and Microsoft Office Products (Including Excel) 

    • Familiar with the payer and specialty pharmacy processes; able to leverage familiarity and knowledge to inform patients about the general approval process if needed 

    • Preferred experience supporting patients who have Osteoporosis, as well as working with Endocrinologists, Rheumatologists, and doctors of Internal Medicine who treat patients with osteoporosis 

    • Ability to use motivational interviewing to help patients with varying degrees of confidence with goal setting, resolving concerns or barriers  

    • Availability and willingness travel to sites within assigned territory, including “cold calling” on offices assigned to the territory 

    • Ability to connect with and build trust with patients and healthcare professionals and apply critical thinking to anticipate obstacles and provide solutions  

    • Proven adaptability to changing business demands in a fast-paced environment 

    • Eligible to participate in federal healthcare programs or in federal procurement or non-procurement programs
