TITLE: PURCHASING COORDINATOR
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Purchasing Manager by overseeing all purchasing for all entities to include raw materials, packaging, supplies, fixed assets and other major purchases.
Assist Purchasing Manager by obtaining quotes, bids, supply agreements and contracts to be approved by Purchasing Manager.
Ensure that all contract administration procedures are followed and executed in a professional manner.
Ensure supply continuity and chemical compliance.
Preparation of Purchase Orders including the verification of product specifications and price and obtaining final approval from Purchasing Manager.
Expected to manage budgets, control cost and scheduling of all purchases.
Develops and implements quality assurance / quality control measures for existing products.
Assists in the regulatory reporting requirements for products.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent written and oral communications and organizational skills.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw conclusions from purchasing data and trends.
Ability to research and interpret technical resources.
Must be able to work in a schedule-driven environment. Timing is a critical function.
Competent with MS Excel and MS Office computer environments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or
Two to five year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Chemical Procurement experience is preferred.
Experience in quality assurance / quality control and general chemistry is preferred.
Experience in working with multiple discipline projects.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to lift up to 25 lbs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils.
Job will generally be performed in an office environment; however, travel may occur.
