    Vice President, Transmission and Interconnection

    The Vice President of Transmission and Interconnection is a strategic and technical leader responsible for driving transmission strategy, interconnection planning, and market engagement to support a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy and storage projects. Reporting to the Head of Transmission & Market Analytics, this role oversees transmission studies, interconnection processes, and power flow modeling across multiple ISOs/RTOs to ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective grid integration. The VP will collaborate closely with development, engineering, finance, and operations teams to align transmission initiatives with overall business goals while monitoring market trends, regulatory changes, and policy developments. This individual will also represent the company in industry and regulatory forums, lead negotiations with RTOs and utilities, and mentor a team of transmission engineers and analysts to foster innovation and excellence in all transmission-related functions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute transmission strategies to support the company’s project portfolio, including utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects.
    • Oversee interconnection processes across multiple ISOs/RTOs, ensuring timely, reliable, and cost-effective grid connections.
    • Lead the development of power flow models and conduct transmission studies to evaluate project feasibility and optimize grid integration.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including development, engineering, finance, and operations—to ensure transmission strategies are aligned with overall project and business goals.
    • Monitor and analyze market trends, regulatory changes, and policy developments that impact transmission and interconnection opportunities.
    • Represent the company in industry forums, stakeholder meetings, and regulatory proceedings related to transmission and interconnection.
    • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of transmission engineers and analysts.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Economics, or a related field; a Master’s degree (e.g., Power Systems, MBA, or Public Policy) is strongly preferred.
    • 10+ years of experience in the power or energy industry with a strong focus on transmission planning or interconnection strategy.
    • Demonstrated expertise with RTO/ISO markets (e.g., CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, MISO), including interconnection queue management, LGIA negotiation, and stakeholder processes.
    • Strong understanding of FERC regulations, market design, LMP pricing, congestion, curtailment, and basis risk as they relate to utility-scale renewable and storage projects.
    • Proficiency in power systems modeling and tools such as PSS®E, PowerWorld, PROMOD, Plexos, TARA, or similar.
    • Proven experience developing and using custom models/tools for forecasting, congestion analysis, or financial risk evaluation in wholesale electricity markets.
    • Experience supporting M&A due diligence, including the evaluation of interconnection positions, basis risk, and market fit.
    • Experience presenting to and representing companies before ISOs, utilities, and regulatory stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with external parties such as RTOs, utilities, and consultants.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach to decision-making.

    Compensation and Location:
