  • Responsibilities

    The VP of Corporate Development will lead the identification, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of strategic mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships to support the company’s long-term growth objectives in California’s dynamic cannabis market. This executive will work closely with senior leadership and external partners to shape corporate strategy, manage complex transactions from inception to integration, and ensure alignment with the company’s vision and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is based in Los Angeles or San Francisco and brings a strong background in investment banking or financial analysis, with cannabis industry experience considered a significant plus.

    **The candidate for this position will need to be based out of either the San Francisco or Los Angeles, CA areas. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the end-to-end M&A process, including sourcing, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and executing transactions that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
    • Conduct comprehensive market research, financial modeling, and due diligence to assess the strategic fit and business potential of prospective deals.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to define, prioritize, and implement growth initiatives, including corporate strategy, investments, and divestitures.
    • Manage relationships with external advisors (investment banks, legal counsel, accountants, consultants) and internal teams to ensure seamless transaction execution.
    • Oversee post-merger integration processes, ensuring the realization of acquisition value and alignment with company goals.
    • Analyze industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities within the cannabis sector to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Present business cases and investment recommendations to the executive team and Board of Directors.
    • Ensure all transactions comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and compliance considerations unique to the cannabis industry.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    • 8+ years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, or financial analysis, with a demonstrated track record of leading M&A transactions.
    • Cannabis industry experience strongly preferred; deep understanding of California’s regulatory environment is a plus.
    • Exceptional financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
    • Willingness to travel within California as needed.

    Compensation: $200,000 - $250,000 plus bonus and benefits.
