As we look toward a new era of growth and impact, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as our Vice President of Development.
About the role: The Vice President of Development is a senior leadership position responsible for designing, implementing, and leading BGCO’s comprehensive fundraising, donor engagement, and communications strategy. The VP will ensure that the organization meets, if not exceeds, its annual and long-term revenue goals while raising visibility and deepening community and donor relationships.
Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the VP of Development will lead a small, high-impact, hands on team across individual giving, institutional fundraising, marketing, events, and communications. This role will be instrumental in building a culture of philanthropy across the organization and shaping BGCO’s financial sustainability and public image.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Fund Development & Planning Leadership & Team Management Individual Giving & Major Gifts Institutional Giving & Grants Marketing, Communication & Events
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification a plus. • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, with demonstrated success in major gifts, institutional giving, and strategic planning. • Existing relationships and experience in Northern California a plus, Oakland a game changer. • Personally responsible for securing multiple grants and donations between $250,000 and $1,000,000 annually. • Experience in a nonprofit environment, preferably serving youth or education-related causes. • Proven ability to manage and inspire a team, while also being a hands-on contributor. • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, board members, and community partners. • Proficiency with donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, MyClubHub, OneCause, Blackbaud, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite. Employment Status: Full-Time, Exempt, On-Site Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 Annually BOE & Qualifications
