Overview
The Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT) is responsible for leading the bank’s overall technology strategy, infrastructure, and operations. This executive will ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of the bank’s IT systems while driving innovation to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute a multi-year IT strategy aligned with the bank’s business objectives.
Advise executive leadership on emerging technologies, digital transformation, and cybersecurity trends in the financial sector.
Oversee IT budgeting, vendor management, and long-term technology investments.
Infrastructure & Operations
Manage all network, server, and core banking systems, ensuring uptime, redundancy, and data integrity.
Supervise IT operations, including helpdesk support, data centers, and cloud services.
Implement scalable infrastructure to support digital banking, mobile platforms, and future growth.
Information Security & Compliance
Maintain and continuously improve the bank’s information security posture.
Ensure compliance with FFIEC, GLBA, NCUA, PCI, SOC 2, and other applicable regulations.
Partner with risk management and internal audit teams to manage cybersecurity frameworks, DR/BCP, and incident response plans.
Digital Banking & Innovation
Lead initiatives in digital transformation—such as online banking, payments modernization, and data analytics.
Collaborate with business units to integrate IT solutions that improve member and customer engagement.
Evaluate and implement automation, AI, and API integrations with fintech partners.
Team Leadership
Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership for project management, agile development, and cross-department collaboration.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in leadership within a financial institution.
Proven experience managing core banking systems, digital platforms, and IT infrastructure.
Deep understanding of information security, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
Certifications such as CISM, CISSP, PMP, or ITIL a plus.
