Job Description
The National Director of Simulation provides strategic leadership and oversight of simulation-based education across all Unitek Learning campuses and affiliated hospital partnership programs. This role sets the vision for simulation excellence systemwide, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with Unitek’s mission, academic priorities, and clinical preparation goals. The Director leads national initiatives that standardize simulation practices, integrate best-in-class pedagogy, and foster innovation to advance student learning outcomes across VN/PN, ADN, BSN, and direct-entry master’s nursing programs.
Establish and advance a systemwide simulation philosophy that aligns with Unitek Learning’s mission, vision, and values.
Serve as the national subject-matter expert on simulation for curriculum design, accreditation standards, and regulatory compliance across multiple states.
Assess existing campus, curricula, and program simulation practices and identify areas strength and opportunity.
Evaluate cost-effectiveness of equipment and programming with leading vendors with consideration of long-term maintenance and usage agreements.
Lead systemwide quality improvement efforts, using evaluation data and industry benchmarks to drive enhancements in student learning outcomes.
Document standard operating procedures for administrative, simulation-based activities, safety, data, equipment, operations and maintenance related to simulation operations.
Partner with Deans and Faculty Development to design and deliver onboarding, annual training, and professional development for simulation faculty and facilitators.
Provide joint training for ongoing professional development and annual training related to simulation teaching.
Guide the development of simulation cases, scenarios, and debriefing methodologies to ensure consistency, quality, and innovation in learner experiences.
Assess campus simulation practices to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for alignment across programs and geographies.
Develop, implement, and maintain national Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for simulation operations, including safety, equipment, data, and maintenance.
Monitor and implement advancements in simulation pedagogy, technology, and regulation at the national and state levels.
Collaborate with procurement, campus leadership, and vendors to evaluate cost-effectiveness, long-term sustainability, and standardization of simulation resources.
Ensure equitable resource distribution and operational consistency across all locations.
Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, and reporting for simulation programs at the national level.
Identify advancements in the industry related to regulation, delivery, and implementation of simulation across programs and states.
Lead, mentor, and oversee simulation staff across multiple campuses, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Provide leadership in pursuing and managing national simulation accreditation. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in simulation.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a simulation director or similar position.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products including MS Word, PPT, Excel, and OneDrive.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Committed to diversity, as defined by the California law.
Ability to work collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.
Experience in supervision, planning, and budget preparation for simulation programming.
Expert knowledge of a variety of manikins and simulation equipment.
Master’s degree in nursing or related areas; preference for terminal degree.
Multi-state compact licensure and eligibility for California Registered Nursing License.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) § Experience working remotely in a self-motivated role.
Experience leading and managing large, cross-functional teams across geographic locations.
