We are seeking GRANTS ASSISTANT to join our diverse and talented team. This position will begin immediately and is funded until June 9, 2024. Continuation of this position past June 9th, 2024 is contingent upon funding availability and will be determined at a later date.

    The GRANTS ASSISTANT will provide support for grant oversight activities of the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF). OPRE oversees contracts and grants to study ACF’s social services programs and the low-income and at-risk children and families they serve. Areas of focus include Head Start, child care, child welfare, employment and self-sufficiency, child abuse and neglect, responsible fatherhood and healthy marriage, home visiting, and youth services. OPRE includes approximately one hundred federal and contracted staff, primarily research and evaluation specialists. OPRE oversees a portfolio of approximately $200 million in grants and contracts.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The GRANT ASSISTANT will provide a full range of grants management support activities to support OPRE. Specifically, this position will support OPRE’s administration of Congressionally Directed Community Projects (CDCPs) and various administrative tasks in support of OPRE’s grant operations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate and manage records of communications with a large body of ACF grantees
    • Monitor grantee applications and reporting requirements using Grants.gov and GrantSolutions
    • Process and track Federal reviews of grant applications
    • Draft written communications to grantees
    • Support scheduling and preparation of agendas, materials, and meeting minutes for grant-related meetings
    • Support records management and file organization activities
    • Provide administrative support for oversight of select ACF grant programs
    • Document grant and procurement oversight procedures and protocols
    • Prepare presentation materials
    • Support development of standard guidance for the CDCP team’s processes
    • Perform various administrative tasks in support of OPRE’s grant and procurement operations
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant professional experience in providing administrative and organizational support
    • Ability to organize and track a broad range of activities with varying levels of complexity, priority and timelines, with high levels of accuracy
    • Ability to work independently, be flexible, and work as part of a remote team in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent time management skills, including handling multiple projects simultaneously and on tight timeframes, while also managing shifting priorities
    • Strong and forward-thinking problem-solving skills--able to analyze issues, extrapolate implications, develop and recommend alternative approaches and solutions, etc.
    • Exercise sound judgement in prioritizing and escalating issues
    • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal skills and customer service orientation, and written and oral communication
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams), with strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
    • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
    • U.S. Citizenship required

    DESIRED:

    • Knowledge of federal grants highly preferred
    • Experience with Grants.gov and/or GrantSolutions highly preferred
