  • Responsibilities

    The VPK Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for four-year-old children enrolled in Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program. The teacher plans and implements engaging lessons aligned with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards, promotes school readiness, and fosters the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of every child.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with the Florida VPK Standards.

    Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning through play and exploration.

    Foster children's social, emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development.

    Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate documentation of each child's progress.

    Prepare children for a successful transition to kindergarten by promoting school readiness skills.

    Maintain daily attendance, lesson plans, assessment records, and other documentation required by the Florida VPK Program.

    Establish positive relationships with parents through regular communication, conferences, and progress reports.

    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom that complies with Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) licensing standards.

    Supervise children at all times, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

    Implement positive behavior management techniques consistent with school policies.

    Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to support school initiatives and student success.

    Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required training.

    Follow all Kidworks USA STEM Academy policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

    Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

    Qualifications

    Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.

    Minimum of a CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential or Florida Staff Credential as required by the Florida VPK Program.

    Must meet all Florida DCF licensing requirements.

    Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).

    Successful completion of Level II Background Screening.

    Knowledge of Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.

    Previous experience teaching preschool or VPK students preferred.

    Fluent in English and Spanish

    Strong classroom management skills.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to develop engaging and creative lesson plans.

    Strong organizational and time management skills.

    Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families.

    Proficiency with classroom technology and educational software is a plus.

    Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities.

    Work Schedule

    Full-Time

    Monday through Friday

    Hours based on school program operating schedule.
