FULL TIME POSITION  WORK DAYS: MONDAY - FRIDAY  HOURS: 7AM - 4:30PM  HOURLY RATE: $18.02

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Under the direction of the NBVC Project Manager, the NBVC Tractor Driver is responsible for a grounds maintenance work which requires the use of a tractor at areas throughout the assigned Military Base.    

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operate 85 HP tractor while pulling mowing equipment to maintain grounds in a manner that meets or exceeds government quality specifications. 
• Maintain regular communication with the control tower at the airfield when performing tasks on the airfield.
• Perform routine cleaning, preventative maintenance and minor repair tasks on tractor, tools and equipment as required.
• Operate hand tools and power tools commonly utilized in grounds maintenance operations safely and proficiently.
• Assist Grounds Workers with their tasks after mowing is complete.
• For work at NBVC or NAS Point Mugu airfield - Checks in the NBVC or NAS Point Mugu airfield base tower daily prior to commencing work at the airfield, maintain contact with base tower personnel during the day and checks out with the base tower personnel at the end of the workday.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience - No minimum education requirements.  

Knowledge of Grounds Maintenance Tools: Must demonstrate the proficient use the following tools:85 HP Tractor, backpack blower, hedge trimmer and line trimmer. 

Communication Skills - Ability to remember and follow verbal directions.  Able to read and interpret written or oral equipment operation procedures in English.  Must be proficient in speaking & understanding the English language in order to communicate with the control tower at the airfield.  

Interpersonal Skills: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and management.  Ability to work as part of a team.

Self-Management Skills: Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands. Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.  Ability to perform repetitive work according to set procedures.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions. Ability to think through the consequences of a decision prior to making it. Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.

Computer Skills: None.

Certificates, Licences, Registrations: Must have a valid driver’s license with an insurable record. Must obtain and maintain proper license in order to operate tractor on airfield.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must be willing and able to work up to 8 hours per shift.  Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
