    DETAILS OF POSITION

    Location: Santa Maria  /  Full-time: Monday - Friday  /   Hours: 8:00AM - 4:30PM  /  Starting Rate: $30.00 per hour


    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    VTC Enterprises has been supporting people with developmental disabilities since 1962. Part of fulfilling our mission includes providing individuals with community experiences to develop and promote their independence.

    In this position, the Safety Coordinator will establish and maintain the Safety and Safety Training Programs for VTC Enterprises and all Federal Contracts.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Oversee the safety program for VTC Enterprises.

    · Maintain and update as needed all safety related policies and procedures.

    · Maintain equipment maintenance log for all VTC equipment.

    · Create and maintain safety trainings for all employees.

    · Create and maintain on-boarding safety training for all new employees to include vehicle orientations.

    · Provide training on safe use of equipment. Prepare and update AHAs for all tools and equipment.

    · Provide reasonable accommodations evaluations for equipment to ensure employees can perform their duties safely and

    efficiently.

    · Conduct regular Safety meetings as directed by contract and VTC policy.

    · Monitor safety procedures.

    · Present safety report to Safety Committee

    · Coordinate all safety inspections (both internal and external) and complete associated reports.

    · Coordinate all safety tailgate topics. Provide signed training documents to HR for entry into personnel database.

    · Investigate work related injuries, providing feedback and suggestions to safety committee.

    · Complete and post annual OSHA required reporting forms.

    · Process Safety Suggestion forms with approval of the Safety Committee.

    · Maintain organization wide SDS binder.

    · Maintain and create/ update as needed organization wide Safe Performance Guides and AHAs.

    · Conduct organization wide emergency drills and complete associated reports.

    · Maintain fire extinguisher records and schedule annual training/recharging of fire extinguishers.

    · Maintain and update as needed the Accident Prevention Plan.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent plus 5 years’ experience in safety or a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of safety or quality assurance experience.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals or reports in English. Demonstrated ability to write clear, grammatically correct and concise reports and correspondence in English. Ability to make presentations and lead meetings. Ability to respond to common inquires and transfer knowledge to others. Fluency in Spanish/English both verbally and in writing, preferred.

    INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Individuals served, coworkers and management. Establish rapport and gain the trust of others. Interact diplomatically with the public. Foster a stimulating, accepting learning environment. Ability to mediate between contending parties or groups. Ability to work as part of a team or collaborate with coworkers.

    SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLS: Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands. Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction. Take action when answers to a problem are not readily apparent in confusing circumstances. Ability to work conscientiously and proactively in order to provide excellent care, training, supervision and a safe environment.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of issues during the workday. Ability to think through the consequences of a decision prior to making it. Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate actions. Make appropriate job decisions following VTC policies and past precedents.

    COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Outlook, Excel, and Word.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Maintain First Aid, CPR and CPI Certifications. Must have a valid driver’s license with an insurable record. Must have an insured vehicle available for use during the course of employment.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must meet and maintain Community Care Licensing criminal history criteria
