    Position summary

    We are looking for a highly capable coater machine operator to join our business's production division. You will be operating the vacuum coater machine, documenting production information, and performing routine maintenance on equipment. Our ideal candidate will have thin film, web-based vacuum coating experience but we are open to training the right person. This position reports to the Lead Process Engineer.

    Responsibilities

    Perform assigned product manufacturing and assembly tasks.

    Conduct quality checks on the functionality of parts and components.

    Optimize production efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings as needed.

    Performing minor repairs and reporting breakdowns in a timely manner.

    Keeping equipment maintenance logs, as well as maintaining a safe and tidy work environment.

    Updating productivity records and writing incident reports, if relevant.

    Collaborating with other departments to complete production orders on time.

    Complying with internal policies and industry regulations.

    Perform necessary clean-outs as needed.

    Detect and report defective or questionable material, product, and/or conditions to the department manager.

    Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order.

    Adhere to all safety requirements and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment required by the job.

    Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety.

    Maintain a safe work environment for self and others when operating equipment and/or performing job functions.

    Performs other related duties as required and assigned

    Requirements or equivalent experience

    High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

    Candidate must possess a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) certification, Associate's Degree, Bachelor's degree, OR equivalent military training.

    In lieu of the education requirements, we are also interested in experienced candidates with 1 or more years of relevant work experience.

    At least two years' experience as a manufacturing technician.

    Extensive experience in performing quality control procedures and meeting production standards.

    Working knowledge of computers and office software.

    Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.

    Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

    Great communication and collaboration skills.

    Keen attention to detail and problem-solving techniques.

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    Can work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

    Current driver's license

    Preferred experience

    Proficient in Microsoft applications with strong emphasis on Excel

    Technical writing skills

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is inside an industrial manufacturing facility. The employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, and bending all day.
