High School Science Teacher Job Performance Requirements Prepare lessons for and instruct high school students in Chemistry, Physical Science, Biology, and Physics according to the curriculum and educational objectives of the school Apply Biblical principles according to the philosophy of the school to those disciplines Use interactive discussions, hands-on approaches, presentations, manipulatives, technology, and media to ensure that learning and critical/Biblical reasoning are achieved Observe and evaluate student progress through the administration of various assignments, research projects, and tests Manage the classroom, maintain classroom discipline and administer appropriate disciplinary action according school policy Oversee study halls, accompany students on field trips as needed Assist with the planning and execution of special events Manage report card and transcript information using PowerSchool Coordinate and attend Parent-Teacher Conferences Attend department and school-wide meetings Perform other duties as assigned Skills and Competency Must have a bachelor's degree and IL teaching certificate Ability to multi-task, have good organizational and classroom management skills Must have excellent written and verbal skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Must be detail oriented and effective at problem solving Have a heart for children, a calling to teach, and ability to motivate, inspire, and challenge students Have a heart and willingness to serve, and commitment to the vision of the ministry Able to comprehend and apply the educational philosophy and method of instruction of the school Able to oversee special events and projects Strong research skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) Must have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, a pursuit of maturity in the faith, a growing walk in the Spirit, and be able to support the ministry's objectives and statement of faith To apply, go to www.valeoacademy.com and click on our job opportunities tab.
