    Trex Company, the world’s number one decking and railing brand, and leader in high-performance, low-maintenance outdoor living products, is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to provide support for instrumentation, PLC controls and electrical power for all production lines.

     

    Help us deliver what’s next in outdoor living by assisting site engineers and maintenance technicians in tasks or troubleshooting involving controls issues and projects.

     

    As our next Instrumentation Technician, you will participate in project involving new instrumentation and controls as the plant liaison. You are action-oriented and safety-minded. You are comfortable developing and reviewing procedures, maintaining documentation, and assisting with new equipment evaluations and installations.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Safety

    • Promote safety programs designed to assure safe working conditions and eliminate any workplace accident. Be a visible participant in the site safety program.

    Facilities and Equipment Maintenance

    • Accountable for all PLC, drive, instrumentation and electrical installations. Program and troubleshoot instrumentation and electrical issues.
    • Develop and review procedures. Provide training for others to handle routine PLC control or electrical issues during normal off-hours. Provide off-shift troubleshooting, if necessary.
    • Develop and execute changes to PLC controls where necessary, working with line engineers and maintenance technicians.
    • Maintain the documentation (both electronic and hard copy) for the electrical and PLC controls for each process. This includes drawings, diagrams, manuals, installation disks/CDs and any other pertinent information. Update documentation where necessary. Follow a controlled PLC change system that tracks changes.
    • Conduct and maintain the necessary contacts for ensuring that PLC controls and equipment are current and that the necessary spare parts are available.
    • Support engineering projects for new equipment evaluation, installations, and startups where PLC controls and/or electrical equipment are being used.
    • Participate in additional duties as required by the supervisor.

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • High school diploma or GED is required.
    • Four years of experience as an electrician with an additional four years of experience in PLC controls/electrical equipment.  
    • The ability to wear requisite personal protective equipment and lift 50 pounds.
    • Competent technical skills are required for PLC controls/electrical equipment (Modicon, Intellution, Modbus Plus, etc).
    • A career path that includes major project work.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to attend training classes and receive certification in system technology.
    • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering technology or similar is preferred.
  • Qualifications

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
    2. One or more years of experience preferred.
    3. Demonstrated history of dependability and punctuality.
    4. Demonstrated ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and social-economic backgrounds.
    5. Demonstrated ability to create a warm, welcoming environment to students, parents, faculty/staff and community members especially during busy/chaotic times.
    6. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a successful team while accomplishing tasks and assignments without assistance, even while multi-tasking.
    7. Highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication to the mission of the College.
    8. Demonstrated excellence in both oral and written communication skills.
    9. Knowledge of and ability to meet all compliance requirements with health and food safety standards and regulations.
    10. Must have outstanding customer service skills.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Transports all materials to and from the event area, following all health and safety specifications.
    2. Sets up and decorates the event areas according to specific directions and then breaks down the area after the event.
    3. Addresses immediate customer concerns and needs in order to provide an optimal experience.
    4. Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dining ware, linens, serving ware, and work areas.
    5. Restocks clean equipment, utensils, and equipment to proper storage areas noting any damages and items that may need replacement.
    6. Perform other duties as assigned.
