PRESCHOOL TEACHER
Minimum Qualifications
Teachers must be 18 years or older. He/she must be competent and demonstrative in meeting and exceeding standards regarding childcare and the teaching of his/her assigned classroom. Teachers are required to meet all criminal clearances and fingerprinting policies. Also, teachers must provide the proof of vaccinations of measles, whooping cough and flu. He/she must have a minimum of six (6) months work experience in childcare centers and must have completed a total of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education with a passing grade. The 12 units must be Child or Human Growth & Development; Child, Family & Community; Child Family & Program; Curriculum Practices & Guidance. He/she must have 16 hours of Health & Safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
Conduct individual conferences with parents of each child at least twice yearly or according to the dates scheduled.
Plan curriculum in detail for the assigned class and submit it to the director for approval.
Implement daily programs
Keep parents updated with classroom happenings through notes and newsletters with the approval of the director.
Teachers must be familiar with and follow all Yellow Brick Road school policies.
Work with the director to arrange field trips.
Decorate assigned classroom
Must arrive 15 minutes early in the classroom before the class starts.
Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
Handle discipline promptly and in accordance to State policy on discipline.
Attend regular staff planning and evaluation meetings.
Attend at least one continuing education seminar or workshop per school year.
PART TIME HOURS: 15-20 Hours/week
FULL TIME HOURS: 30-40 Hours/week
