    Job Description

    At HSBC, the health and well-being of our employees remains of utmost importance. Upon resumption of normal operations, this role may be performed at our Buffalo, New York office.

    As our Analyst, you’ll break down costs and manage our portfolio to understand the financial impact of initiatives throughout the business. Every day, you’ll be the second line of support to global teams so they can optimize forecast and visualize financial trends that ultimately deliver results and reduce risk. You’re constantly questioning variances and asking for the intel you need to find the answers. To thrive in this job, you’ll need experience running a portfolio/program/project budget of $10+ million or more using Pioneer, Clarity, GPDM and reporting tools like Excel. The role involves a wide mix of strategic and BAU activities.

    Every day you will:

    • Manage the monthly financial cycle to deliver country and global reporting requirements

    • Use agile concepts to analyse risk, and results that will help our team optimize their processes

    • Discuss variances and get to the bottom of why they exist

    • Use forecasting and reporting tools to translate numbers into reports anyone can understand

    • Think outside the box to find a better approach that saves time and money

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:

    • Has an expert understanding how to manage and execute the HSBC Monthly Financial life cycle including:

    • Monthly application of actuals and reforecasting in Pioneer and Billable Products in GPDM, realistically and aligned to the Value Stream Investment Plan

    • As required, complete the Software Capitalization process

    • End to end Clarity set-up including monitoring and reporting, closure, resource allocation etc.

    • Monthly alignment of Pioneer and GPDM for both resources and non-resources.

    • End to end Fusion Purchase Order set-up including accruals, invoice payment, issue resolution and using reporting to monitor and manage process

    • Correction of any and all data quality issues in any of the supporting systems above listed

    • Ability to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines

    • Analyze the monthly charges to the business file and explain variances to Senior Business stakeholders

    • Execute the monthly cost allocation methods dispute process

    • Has a solid understanding of:

      • IT financial planning and cost management policy, processes and tools

      • DBS shared services, Unit Rate setting, billing and cost recovery concepts

      • IT headcount management processes and associated tools

    • Understands the expectation of delivering both globally and locally, balancing and simultaneously meeting both objectives as much as possible

    • Has enough Financial acumen to translate accounting practices and impact, simplifying complex information and articulate in a meaningful way to wide and varied audience

    • Has the ability to interface with Senior stakeholders

    • Qualifications or prior experience in Finance/Business Studies would be beneficial

    • Advanced Excel skills using pivots and walks

    • Ability to work flexibly, taking early or late calls on occasion

    In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have a track record of:

    • Accustomed to working with little direction, self-starter, highly organized and able to prioritise multiple concurrent work streams and challenging deadlines

    • Experience in a business management / COO / IT Financial role

    • Excellent communication, inter-personal and negotiating skills; equal focus on verbal and written communications

    • Excellent decision making and problem solving ability

    • Excellent analytical skills to understand and use metrics to draw conclusions

    • Ability to make recommendations to senior management, based both on subjective and objective information - consulting skills

    • Seeks continuous learning and improvement, willing to change processes, procedures and methods regularly to optimize

    • Flexibility to travel on occasion

    • Is a team player, and willing to support the team in different areas to achieve team objectives

    • Proven prior experience in managing financial portfolios

    • Proven experience in working with matrix reporting teams across multiple time zones, and is willing and able to support out of core hour meetings

    • Proven experience in driving programs through Agile and scrum methods

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, financial proficiency and expert attention to details with respect to numbers produced

    • Experienced in tools such as Pioneer, Clarity, GPDM, HIBS, Hermit, MS Office including Think Cell, Advanced Excel skills, JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint and Teams

    • SAFe certified in an introductory course (Leading SAFe and/or SAFe for Teams) and basic course (RTE/SM), preferably certified in an advance SAFe course LPM
