Job Description
Vazquez & Associates, Inc., is a growing and thriving Public Accounting Firm providing tax, accounting, and business consulting services mainly to high-net worth individuals and small/medium-sized businesses throughout Southern California. Founded in 2016, by Louie Vazquez, when he was just 27, in the last 5.5 years, we have grown our firm to over 350 clients! We specialize in four main areas: Small/Medium Size Business Owners, Real Estate Taxation, Inheritances/Trusts, and IRS/FTB/Gov't resolutions. If you want to know more about our firm, be sure to check out our IG: @VANDAINC and our Yelp page: https://www.yelp.com/biz/vazquez-and-family-inc-irvine — We will notice you if you drop us a DM on IG.
We are looking for an experienced CPA (7+ years) on a full-time basis. You will work out of a window office at our Los Alamitos office location. To encourage productivity, you will have a state-of-the-art i7 laptop and the option of two 34" monitors side by side or a 49" and a 34" monitor side by side. During Tax Season, we typically work no more than 60 hours in a week. We do a very good job in spreading client work out throughout the year. We aren't in business to burn ourselves out and bend over backwards for bad clients who procrastinate deadlines, have poor communication, and aren't getting us what we need in a timely manner -- they can go somewhere else. Work/Life balance is important in this demanding industry. It would be ideal if you lived within a 30 minute drive from our location in Los Al.
QUALITIES/TRAITS/SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Leadership -- Accounting and Support Staff will look to you as they learn and have questions in day-to-day operations. Know how to lead a team successfully.
Well Organized – you need to be able to handle multiple client engagements at one time and meet deadlines.
Great Attention to Detail – we are a CPA Firm. Attention to Detail is everything.
Great Communicator – you will be dealing directly with business owners, CEOs, & CFOs. We want someone that isn’t afraid of emailing, handling phone calls, and meeting/video calls with clients.
Task Orientated – we will assign tasks and we expect you to carry out the task. We want results, not excuses.
Motivated to Work & Take the Initiative – We want someone that is relentless in their pursuit of success as a CPA in Southern California. This is an awesome opportunity for the right person. Your team will not follow you if you drag your feet, procrastinate, or fail to accomplish objectives.
Extensive Experience with Business/Trust/Individual Tax Returns – You need to be able to review Jr/Semi-Senior/Senior Staff's work, communicate and critique staff's work with review notes, communicate with your team internally and with the client if you have questions, research complex issues, and get the tax return ready for Partner review.
Experience with IRS/FTB Tax Resolutions -- Know how to negotiate payment plans, respond to notices, and prepare for examinations. None of our tax returns that we file have ever been audited since we started in 2016 (knocking on wood), but we do take on the occassional examination if we feel we have a confident resolution in favor of the taxpayer. We also might take on the occasional Offer in Compromise if it is a slam dunk opportunity in favor of the taxpayer. Outside of payment plans, responses for notices, etc -- We typically refer complex issues to a Tax Attorney colleague within our network.
Tax Software Experience – know how to use tax software.
Client Orientated – You will develop relationships with our clients as they look to you as their financial/tax advisor. We have great clients and we go the extra mile for them.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a HUGE plus
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Compensation -- $120k - $140k annual salary, depending on your overall experience and skill set.
Signing Bonus -- An additional $3,500 signing bonus will be issued. The full balance will be paid over the course of four months.
Health Care -- 100% Medical and Vision through Kaiser.
Time Off -- During the off-season (May - July) we typically only work 4 days per week to recover, enjoy the summer and quality time with our friends & families. Vacation Time will be negotiable. If you work hard and get things done, you should be able to enjoy a healthy amount of time off with your friends & family as long as your workload during the off-season & Holidays permits.
CPE & CPA License Costs – covered by our firm and time spent on CPE will be paid.
Let’s get to work!!
