Our advanced pump, valvetrain, transmission and NEV electrified product divisions are supporting the growing need for efficient hybrid and electrified powertrains.

    Summary/Description

    a leading global automotive supplier, is actively seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of the North America team that has a fast-growing electric vehicle components portfolio direct to the OEM’s. The Supplier Development Engineer will be responsible for effective QM systems regarding product portfolio, current production programs and new program launches. Maintaining and improving effective internal and external standards and Customer requirements such as IATF 16949 and VDA.

    · Support the product, process, and production requirements of externally supplied components, tools and equipment.

    · Support the search for, establishment of, and development of new suppliers.

    · Support the continual improvement of existing suppliers.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    · Plan, support and implement supplier development programs to identify risk and improve quality of products purchased.

    · Conducts supplier related audits (IATF/VDA) on potential and current suppliers to meet requirements utilizing Supplier Assessments, Run-at-Rates, Manufacturing Capability Audits, Control Plan Audits, etc., and take necessary actions as required.

    · Develops suppliers using core quality tools as they relate to Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA development, Control Plan Development, MSA, SPC, and Control Charts.

    · Applies knowledge of PPAP, SPC, MSA, APQP, GD&T, Six Sigma, Lean, VA/VE, Check Fixtures, Gage R&R, etc.

    · Manages supplier root cause analysis and corrective actions to ensure robust solutions.

    · Participates in cross functional Risk Assessment meetings and resulting supplier design and feasibility reviews.

    · Teams up with Engineering, Purchasing, Suppliers, and Customers to harmonize discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction or quality improvement opportunities.

    · Supports the sourcing process by pro-actively identifying and assessing potential suppliers, participating in internal and external technical reviews with suppliers and engineering.

    · Monitors supplier performance (incidents, PPMs) and develops/implements effective action plans to improve poor performing suppliers Key Qualifications/Requirements.

    · Implements quality and productivity improvement initiatives for existing suppliers.

    · Drives supplier quality and productivity improvements.

    · Supports plant SQEs with open complaints on purchased material (CPMs) and follows up with the suppliers to assure root cause has been found and corrective action has been implemented to prevent recurrence and also establish disposition criteria.

    · Travel up to 60% with targeted area of supplier selection and management. Must be able to travel unrestricted and with valid passport in North America, western and limited parts of eastern Europe, India, China, South Korea.

    · Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    · BS degree in Engineering or similar

    · Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering and/or supplier development experience

    · Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications as well as demonstrated use of GD&T, 3D CAD Models.

    · Experience with assessment and audits TS, ISO, VDA audit, APQP, PFMEA, Quality statistic, Control Plan and error proofing, 6 sigma, and LEAN manufacturing process training and practical experience.

    · Knowledge of LEAN concepts like VSM (Value Stream Mapping) is an added advantage.

    · Knowledge of production machines & tools.

    · Strong team player with further demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.

    · Demonstrated self-starter and able to work independently, as needed to execute strategies to meet goals.

    · Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.

    · SDE/Engineering in automotive OEM/Tier 1/Tier 2: 5 years.

    · Electric components purchasing: 3 years (Preferred).

    · Certified lead auditor certification (ISO 9001 or similar).
