Our client is seeking an Automotive Key Account Manager to join our team and take the lead on developing and executing sales and marketing strategies for their automotive business unit in the United States and Mexico.
This growth position will allow you to set the strategy for the business unit and build a team of key account managers.
You'll be responsible for building strong relationships with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, expanding our client’s product specifications on global supplier lists, and staying on top of emerging technologies and market trends.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
\- A strong understanding of the automotive industry. You must have relationships with any of the following: GM, Ford, Stellantis, Tesla, Rivian, and/or any Tier 1 supplier that supports those companies
\- Strategic thinking skills for both short and long-term planning: This is a growth position and this skill becomes critical as you build your team and develop the strategy for the automotive business unit.
\- 5-10 years of relevant experience in automotive manufacturing market sales
\- Competency in PC and Windows-based software, including Microsoft Office Suite and SalesForce software. You will be doing a lot of work in Excel, so an intermediate or advanced skill set in Excel is needed.
\- Excellent sales and relationship-building skills. This is a position where you will be going deep into very large organizations like Ford, GM, and Stellantis and using your relationship-building skills to map out each company's key contacts and suppliers.
\- Critical thinking and the ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to customer needs
\- Knowledge of automotive applications, competitive products, emerging technologies, industry/market trends, and information.
