Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced EHS Specialist to join their team part-time in the chemical operations sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety, preferably with OSHA certification and experience in a chemical handling environment. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage EHS responsibilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Support management and supervision teams in enforcing compliance with all applicable EHS regulatory standards and company policies among site associates.
- Timely and accurate completion of all EHS reporting.
- Maintenance and updating of site safety systems, policies, and procedures.
- Regular inspections of facilities, machinery, and equipment, identifying potential safety and health hazards.
- Conduct thorough accident investigations, providing actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Act as the company’s representative in interactions with government agencies on matters concerning safety, health, and the environment.
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety procedures across the company.
- Organize and conduct training sessions covering emergency response, workplace safety, and other EHS-related topics.
- Compile and submit safety, health, and environmental reports to both corporate and regulatory bodies.
- Assist with managing contractor EHS compliance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- A degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related scientific field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH), ideally in chemical handling.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
- Strong ability to develop and deliver effective training materials using various media.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or OSHA 30-hour certification is ideal.
- Physical capability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
