POSITION SUMMARY:

• This job description applies to the capital project to create a new Gene Therapy facility on the Pfizer site in Sanford, NC.
• This role will report to the startup lead and is expected to be 12 months in duration.
• Spend 90% of their time in the field, observing, mentoring and coaching of utility and equipment startup, commissioning, and verification teams.
• Review and approve all Safe Plans of Action and Risk Assessments for each task, to ensure they are effective and complete.
• Assist startup, commissioning, and verification teams with identification of hazards and mitigation plans.

  POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Spend 90% of their time in the field, observing, mentoring and coaching of utility and equipment startup, commissioning, and verification teams.
• Experience starting up one or multiple of the following: cell culture equipment/process, preferred experience with single use bioreactors, single use mixers, wave bioreactors, CIP/SIP systems, AKTA / Chromatography
• Self-starter able to jump in with the goal of understanding established project strategy and quickly start implementing per strategy.
• DeltaV experience preferred
• Hands-on engineer with a safety focus who is also a strong communicator and works well cross-functionally, experience working with/training Operations a plus.
• Ensure design documents are maintained through project life-cycle for turn over.
• Identify project risks and opportunities and propose mitigation plans.
• Lead up to 3 junior engineers

• Process Engineering team

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an Mechanical or Chemical Engineering discipline

  BASIC-MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 10 years experience on Pharma or Oil & Gas with experience supporting startup and commissioning phase.
• Ability to read/understand P&IDs and electrical single line drawings. 

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10-15 years of Biologics drug substance experience
• Startup and commissioning safety
