We value a range of experiences in people’s educational backgrounds and encourage people who have been directly impacted by the criminal justice system to apply.Who you are:The primary responsibilities of the intern will be to provide administrative and research support to the Initiatives Department and the Advancing Universal Representation campaign during the summer. Vera’s Advancing Universal Representation Initiative (UREP) seeks to establish the right to federally funded, universal, zealous, person-centered representation for people whose life, liberty, or community ties are at risk in the immigration system. UREP’s plan is to have national impact by 2030 by passing federal legislation that secures the right for all immigrants in deportation proceedings to have high-quality federally funded representation.This intern will report directly to the Operations Manager and will also work closely with the VP of Initiatives. They will have a unique opportunity to work closely with the Advancing Universal Representation Initiative and can expect to gain meaningful experience in project management and cross team communications.ScheduleThe intern should be available to work up to 35 hours per week during the summer. The dates will be between June 6th and August 12th with some flexibility to accommodate personal and academic schedules.CompensationThe compensation range for internships is $16.00 - $25.00, per hour. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience and performance. Applicants may choose to receive academic credit. For those who need to earn academic credit, Vera will gladly assist in working with the school or program to make arrangements and meet requirements.How To ApplyPlease submit cover letter and resume.
