    Job Description

    The Inventory Control Accounting Specialist will play an integral role for Veranova Operations and Finance teams. This role will provide support to the Finance Site Controller and to the Head of Supply Chain to ensure all inventory is accounted for with primary focus on product & service costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis.  The Inventory Control Accounting Specialist will oversee and manage inventory cost allocations for both Veranova sites in Devens MA and North Andover MA.  Working collaboratively with numerous departments amongst a dynamic and fast-paced team, the Inventory Control Accounting Specialist will utilize their skills and knowledge to implement efficiencies and planning to work towards continuous improvement in our Inventory Management and Accounting practices.  

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Manage the interface between Supply Chain Management and Finance.  
    • Implement improvements for optimization and maintaining accounting of inventory for both Veranova sites in Massachusetts. 
    • Implement innovative ways to improve cost accounting process, liaising and partnering with Procurement/Supply Chain/Material Control.
    • Design programs that will ensure precision, efficiency and accuracy of inventory control accounting.  
    • Maintain financial accounting system for inventory.
    • Support the Finance function in preparation of financial & costing analysis, budgets, performance measurements and ad hoc analysis relating to plant operations.
    • Manage and maintain inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software.
    • Responsible for supporting the local operations team in reporting of actual and forecasting of operational costs along with developing an understanding of the variances and drivers.
    • Develop, analyze, and maintain standard costs used for inventory valuation. Monthly inventory valuation, iinventory verification and control. 
    • Make journal entries and recording all daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly transactions
    • Coordinate accounting processes throughout plant to ensure inventory accuracy.
    • Supporting monthly/annual closure activities and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
    • Assist in the preparation of supporting schedules and documentation for annual audit, physical inventory, and monthly cycle counts.
    • Performs other related duties as requested.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, or similar discipline is required.
    • Minimum 3 years of Finance/Accounting/Inventory Control/Purchasing/Supply Chain experience is required.
    • Experience with warehouse inventory, logistics, or supply chain and material handling is required
    • Experience working in Operations or Manufacturing/ development organization is required.
    • Experience working within pharmaceutical or chemical industry and GMP environment is highly desired
    • Strong background, knowledge and proven skills in management accounting, cost and inventory accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is required.
    • A good understanding of the general ledger system is highly desired
    • Strong IT aptitude to deliver effective reporting, analysis with Microsoft Office proficiency
    • Familiarity with enterprise / ERP system
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact and influence all levels of management
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate findings into actionable solutions and processes
    • Strong analytical skills are required to quickly grasp issues and opportunities impacting the plants’ financial results.
    • Ability to manage projects, work independently, and communicate effectively to all areas and levels of the organization.
    • Ability to function effectively in a team environment and gain the cooperation of individuals across the organization
    • Open to new ways of working, adopting harmonized processes and be a catalyst for change
