Job Description

Under the direction of a shift lead chemist, works on manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in support of the business unit while meeting local, state, and federal quality and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently synthesize, purify, and isolate chemical intermediates and active ingredients.
• Communicate with Shift Leader regarding safety, production, quality or any other operational issues on shift.
• Actively participates in pre-shift meetings to develop individual work plans.
• Completely and accurately record data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operations, raw materials, and pressure of large scale reactors in accordance with good documentation practices.
• Exhibit a high level of safety awareness and conduct lab operations in a safe manner.
• Maintain a clean kilo lab and ensure equipment is cleaned after use. Ensure support and work areas meet all requirements for housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or chemical operator with 5-7 years of experience.
• Must be open to rotating 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
• Prior basic laboratory skills and a working theoretical knowledge of organic chemistry desired.
• High level of safety awareness and attention to details. Able to read and interpret complex operating instructions. Good organizational and record keeping skills.
• Experience working in a Kilo-Lab environment or GMP experience is a plus.
• While performing the duties of this job it is required to stand, walk, and use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch when necessary for job activity.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
