    Job Description

    Verisk‘s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide you with real work experience, professional development, and networking opportunities. This is a full-time (40 hours/ week) paid internship program spanning ten weeks from June through August 2023. The internship opportunity is within the Extreme Event Solutions business unit of Verisk located in Boston, MA.

    Extreme Event Solutions provides risk modeling solutions that make individuals, businesses, and society more resilient to extreme events.  Extreme Event Solutions models the risk from natural catastrophes, terrorism, pandemics, casualty catastrophes, and cyber-attacks globally.   Insurance, reinsurance, financial, corporate, and government clients rely on our advanced science, software, and consulting services for catastrophe risk management, insurance-linked securities, site-specific engineering analyses, and agricultural risk management.  Extreme Event Solutions is headquartered in Boston with additional offices in North America, Europe, and Asia.

    WHAT YOU COULD LEARN:

    • Participate in risk analyses using Verisk's cutting-edge technology for insurers, brokers, reinsurers and other financial intermediaries in the internationally expanding business of extreme event risk management
    • Conduct immersive research, analyze data, and consulting projects to benefit our clients.  
    • Build professional relationships with coworkers and clients while offering support across business units. 
    • Ability to problem-solve and work independently on projects. 
    • Have a growth mindset to complete all responsibilities and be eager to learn. 
    • Proficiency with Touchstone and Touchstone Re
    • Analyzing data within Microsoft SQL

    EXPERIENCE  

    • Enrolled in a bachelor or masters program. We love folks with varied coursework, but you must possess an analytical mindset, passion for business, and a desire to innovate. Risk Management & Insurance majors, a plus.
    • A history of tackling projects with a quantitative lens, and a desire for data-driven insights. 
    • Verisk serves the insurance vertical so an interest or past experience in insurance is helpful, though not required.  
    • Ability to analyze data using analytical tools
    • Proactive problem solving skills

    RECRUITMENT PROCESS:

    We want to get to know YOU. Once you apply, our team will review your application. Successful candidates will be invited to a two-stage interview process including:

    1. DIGITAL INTERVIEW: Our team is keen to get to know you. You'll be introduced to several members of our team as they share their experiences about life at Verisk. We will ask you a series of questions in order to learn about what drives you and where your interests lie – it is your opportunity to make yourself stand out from the pack. This is a great way for you to meet several of our employees outside of a traditional 1:1 interview.
    2. FINAL LIVE VIRTUAL INTERVIEW/PRESENTATION: This round is to determine if Verisk’s culture is right for you. You'll have the opportunity to speak with several members of our business recruitment committee.
    3. OFFER: Our committee will meet and discuss your candidacy. Should you be extended an offer, we will advise you of the business and location where your internship will take place.
