    Job Description

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    Our Claims Analytics team is in search of a detail-oriented, data-savvy individual familiar with automation methodologies and technologies to facilitate development of our data products in an agile environment.  Data Quality Engineers collaborate with Report and ETL Developers as well as other stakeholders to create an automated test plan to evaluate data integrity and fitness as well as evaluate and test reports to verify functionality and accuracy according to specifications and standards.  Constructive and professional interaction with others is a must.  Working with the QA Manager, Data Stewards, and other stakeholders our Data Quality Engineers provide essential support in meeting deadlines and ensuring product quality.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1.       Perform thorough data testing against data sources and data products according to specifications and documentation 

    2.       Identify, isolate & document defects, questionable functionality, errors, and inconsistencies in data and data products

    3.       Assist to create thorough and effective test plans & test cases using clear, easily followed steps

    4.       Perform workflows and test cases, documenting results and unresolved issues

    5.       Document, track, and communicate test results, analysis, and unresolved problems

    6.       Maintain involvement throughout the development cycle for defects, features and improvements providing timely support as required

    7.       Problem solving and root cause analysis

    8.       Assist to create training materials and help documentation

    9.       Effectively and professionally interact with customers, clients, and other Verisk employees

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. 2 years completion of Bachelor’s degree in IS, CS, related/technical or Business and/or 2-4 years of relevant experience.  Emphasis on Business Intelligence is preferred.

    2.       Knowledge of QA/testing methodologies (e.g. smoke, regression, component, integrations, etc.)

    3.       Ability to solve complex problems and perform root cause analysis

    4.       Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos

    5.       Good verbal and written communication skills including ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group settings to stakeholders, clients, and fellow team members

    6.       Working knowledge of data, SQL & other query languages, and data tools (reporting, ETL, visualization, etc.)

    7.       Knowledge of Windows, Testing Tools (e.g. defect tracking tools, etc.), and MS Office applications (Excel, etc.) as well as test automation methodologies, tools, techniques, and best practices

     

    DESIRABLE SKILLS (NOT REQUIRED):

    1.       Any business analyst, report writing/analysis, Spotfire, Tableau, or other BI experience

    2.       Any data systems, data system configuration, Pentaho, or other IS experience

    3.       Any Redshift, DynamoDB, RDS, Aurora, S3, Lambda, or other AWS experience

    4.       Manual data analysis using Excel or other spreadsheet tools

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    1.       Frequent interaction with Data Team members and members of other Verisk subsidiaries

    2.       Occasional travel

    3.       General office working conditions and environment

    4.       Occasional exceptional hours as needed to meet deadlines
