    INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER 

    LOCATION

    Beaverton, Oregon. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement after 90 days.

    You bring a research-informed mindset to instructional content creation across different approaches to science teaching and regional variations in science standards. In addition to being an excellent writer, you know how to create instructional materials that are accessible to the target audience and incorporate best practices. You promote and foster a work environment where collaboration is a priority and contributions from a variety of perspectives are valued. You are collaborative within your team and across departments when offering suggestions, making decisions, and receiving feedback. 

    You have recent experience teaching science in a 6–12 classroom, developing standards-aligned lessons, and using Vernier data-collection technology.

    You are willing to jump in and assist when needed. You know how to have fun in the workplace while setting priorities and accomplishing your daily goals.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, Instructional Design, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university 

    • Proficient in current science instruction and assessment best practices and the Next Generation Science Standards, including methods to meet the need of diverse learners 

    • 3+ years of experience teaching in a science classroom using Vernier data-collection technology

    JOB SUMMARY

    Collaborate to apply theory and research processes to develop and implement instructional materials, assessment strategies, and resources for K–college learning.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Assist with developing, writing, revising, and proofreading interactive instructional content, including assessment items
    • Work with internal teams to assist with the creation of professional development designed to effectively integrate technology into curriculum and instruction
    • Apply proper usage of brand, voice, and style, as well as grammar, sentence structure and punctuation, and organization
    • Participate in Instructional Content and Curriculum department meetings
    • Attend project meetings as needed
    • Work under pressure, with interruptions, and meet and establish deadlines
    • Build and maintain good relationships with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and maintain a positive, team-oriented environment
    • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional working relationships with all internal and external customers
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours
    • Work under immediate supervision

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, Instructional Design, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university 
    • Proficient in current science instruction and assessment best practices and the Next Generation Science Standards, including methods to meet the need of diverse learners 
    • 3+ years of recent experience teaching in a science classroom using Vernier data-collection technology
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into instruction
    • Advanced-level knowledge of Google Suite, including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites
    • Proficient in a variety of digital platforms including Zoom, Google Meet, and Slack
    • Knowledge of Vernier Science Education sensors, interfaces, software, and curricula
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, organization, and follow-through skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations with other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.).
