    Our client is a large Food Retail Chain with locations throughout California, Nevada, Texas, Washington State, and New Jersey. They are growing and seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to their Accounting & Finance leadership team.

    Job Description:

    The Controller will oversee account receivable (AR), account payable (AR), and general ledger (GL) functions. The controller will work closely with the Finance manager and CFO to ensure financial policies and procedures are in compliance with professional standards, and state and federal regulatory requirements. Establish and maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will be a critical member on the management team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
    • Manage sales tax, use tax, personal property tax filings; handle audit requests as needed.
    • Ability to continually make process improvement to do things more efficiently and effectively
    • Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
    • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.
    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
    • Prepare capital expenditure supporting documents and analysis for upper management approval
    • Strong project management experience
    • Recruit, train, and build a strong team. Strong interpersonal and leadership skill to motivate the team and deliver results
    • Other special assignments and ad hoc requests as needed

    Qualification:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field with Master's degree a plus
    • CPA is strongly preferred with public accounting experience from large national CPA firms
    • 8+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience preferably within Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Manufacturing/Distribution, 3PL/Warehousing, Hospitality/Retail/Restaurant, Industries with Inventory, etc.
    • 3+ years in a supervisory role with midsize to large accounting team of 10+
    • Strong technical skills including Excel and accounting software such as SAP
    • Strong organizational and business process skills with attention to detail
    • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including GAAP.
    • Capable of driving change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results
    • Able to utilize the latest technology to enhance the growth of an organization
    • Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations
    • Capable of directing the resolution of complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment
    • Demonstrates a high level of ethical behavior in exercising judgment and discretion in matters of significance
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience
    • Business acumen and ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge
    • Bilingual Chinese (Mandarin is preferred over Cantonese but flexible)
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
