    Process Development | Application Engineer

    Our client is an International leading global manufacturer of components systems used for packaging high-reliability microelectronic devices. Their product provides controlled processing environments, from high vacuum to high pressure. They are looking to add an experienced Process Development/Application Engineer to their team. 

    Key Functions:

    • Contribute to process and technology development efforts of the company to meet customer and market needs.
    • Work closely with customers, as well as sales, engineering, and manufacturing team members to assess, comprehend, and develop process solutions using company solutions.
    • Develop and present papers and talks at technical symposia, detailing the company’s newest technological developments.
    • Travel with the sales team to customer sites to evaluate current and future processes, systems, tooling, and service needs.

    Position responsibilities include:

    • Review and analysis of customer applications, including interpreting mechanical drawings, materials specifications, and process requirements
    • Develop process specifications using the vacuum soldering and thermal processing technology, systems, and tooling to meet application requirements – this will involve the development of DOE’s, processing parts in the company’s lab, analysis and reporting of results
    • Plan, justify, and execute new technology road map and develop projects which promote opportunities for equipment sales and new equipment development
    • Evaluate and understand competitive technologies and determine the response
    • Author and present technical papers at industry symposia
    • 20% travel to customer sites for applications assistance and sales support
    • Occasional attendance at trade shows and other promotional venues

    Requirements:

    • Documented US citizen
    • An advanced degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry or related field that supports the above position responsibilities
    • Successful work experience in technical or engineering position,
    • Excellent English language communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Strong technical writing skills, with an ability to communicate technical information in a clear, understandable form
    • Ability to justify and manage project and program budgets
    • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office products
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priority levels
    • Thrives in a ‘hands-on’ working environment
    • Experience with semiconductor back-end or microelectronic manufacturing processes highly desirable
    • Preferably has worked on different microelectronics packaging technology both discrete and wafer level.
