    Staff/Senior Accountant

    Job description:

    Fast-growing landscaping company seeks a Staff/Senior Accountant to join their team. This role will work cross-functionally with the operations and finance department to ensure the accurate, timely, and consistent processing of financial data.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial data as well as budgets, forecasts, etc.)
    • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, labor and expense variances, and other below-the-line costs
    • Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on operational metrics to help drive performance
    • Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance to identify trends and advise management on recommended actions
    • Perform month-end close activities, including accruals, general ledger account reconciliations, and journal entries, as needed
    • Supervision of regional administrative team, ensuring timely processing of financial transactions
    • Maintain a documented system of internal financial controls, accounting processes and policies
    • Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurements
    • Accountable for oversight and management of timely and accurate processing of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor invoices
    • Delegate and manage project-based work to office staff, follow-up and report results to Region Vice President
    • Manage regional working capital
    • Keep management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports, compiling information and identifying trends.
    • Assist the VP of Accounting and Corporate Controller with various internal and external financial audits
    • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis, as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a quantitative-related field
    • Strong experience in journal entries
    • Strong financial analysis skills, thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting practices, especially the revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), and business combinations (ASC 805) standards
    • Working knowledge of the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and ability to identify, design, and implement financial controls
    • Advanced skills with Excel, Power Point, SQL database extract skills a plus; familiarity with ERP systems, working knowledge of IFS a plus
