REVENUE RECOGNITION MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is a large innovative Global Technology company located in Orange County. They are seeking an experience independent contributor as Revenue Recognition Manager to join their elite team.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review multiple element software license contracts to determine proper revenue recognition treatment in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
- Develop and document global company policy and basis for revenue recognition for non-standard contracts or terms. Review non-standard sales contracts for compliance with accounting rules and company policy.
- Communicate complex and difficult issues to Senior Management in appropriate manner.
- Interact with field sales and inside sales personnel and the legal department to promote contract language that avoids revenue recognition issues and facilitates revenue accounting accuracy.
- Apply commercial awareness and provide support and training to field sales personnel to help them understand and structure complex deals and related revenue results.
- Conduct VSOE studies on rolling basis for PCS and PS elements.
- Act as a general technical resource for field sales, legal, commissions accounting, accounts receivable, and order processing departments on revenue accounting matters
- Support audits of global entities and provide schedules and various analyses as part of the external audit process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related degree
- Big 4 CPA or Tier 2 public accounting background is strongly preferred but not a must
- CPA with strong technical accounting and pronouncements a plus
- 3+ years of experience working in the software/technology industry and dealing with revenue recognition technical guidance and related standards a plus
- Legal background or prior experience with contract reviews and contract language interpretations
- Demonstrated ability to apply US GAAP to specific business situations and familiarity with IFRS as it applies to the software/technology industry [IFRS 15 and ASC 606]
- Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills for interacting with internal and external customers and ability to explain complex revenue recognition issues to different audiences
